Intimate Al Fresco Garden Party Dinner Event in Wilmington, Delaware | Scout Cafe
What better way to end the summer than an al fresco garden dinner party? Wilmington, Delaware coffee shop + cafe, Scout Cafe, hosted its first dinner series titled “Dinner with a Chef” on a late summer Saturday evening in August. The dinner featured four vegan courses prepared by Chef William Courtney with produce sourced locally from Barking Dog Farm in Chester County, Pennsylvania.
Nicholas Qaabar, owner of Scout Cafe, set the scene with luscious greenery, various fun trinkets, and of course twinkling string lights.
The vegan menu sourced from Barking Dog Farm
Tofu ricotta over local heirloom tomatoes, basil, local evoo, cracked black pepper, toasted hemp seeds
Jackfruit “crab cake” bites over arugula with dijon dressing and roasted corn and heirloom tomato salsa with pickled red onions
Watermelon “ahi tuna” tacos, cucumber matchsticks, bib lettuce, sesame/wasabi aioli on flour/corn tortillas with side esquires over smashed avocado, micro radish
Chocolate and coffee chia seed pudding layered with dragonfruit and diced mango, whipped coconut and micro mint garnish
Featured drink: dragonfruit lemonade
One of my favorite parts of documenting a dinner party is showing the hard work behind the scenes. It was a pleasure to watch Chef William Courtney create stunning, colorful dishes for the guests.
Scout Cafe recently opened up their back alleyway secret garden space and it was completely transformed into the intimate dinner party of everyone’s dreams. As the sun set, warm + cozy string lights filled the space and the family-style seating allowed for neighbors of the community to connect with each other over delicious food.
Keep an eye out for the next dinner event!
